Arisu is correct. You could actually be harming them unintentionally if you're just buying the 'turtle products' and things that are supposed to be good for them. It depends more on what works the best. If the 'fancy' products do what they're supposed to, it's totally fine. But I've found more often than not they don't work like they should.

My complaint about pet store basking bulbs is that they are expensive, die just as quickly as the cheap incandescent bulbs and the one I got was 60W and made my basking around around 85 degrees. Turtle wasn't interested in 85 degrees. My 60W incandescent, however, makes the basking area about 95 degrees, which turtle likes much more!
