I believe that beast is right here. If i order this sand i will be ordering it from the site that beast used...

Let me ask you beast, when you say siphon vaccuming, do you mean the little vaccum that you let the water siphon into a bucket? If so that's what i use, and how do you like it?

Muirner, I have called pet stores around me, and they said they didn't have it, but a couple of them said they could order it for me and it would be in in like 5 days... I figured let them pay the shipping ya know? 4, 5lb bags could be a lot to ship..

This is the best looking setup I've yet to see on the forums. It looks big, it looks natural. The sand color along with the wood is beautiful. It's got all the right gear but it doesn't look like an industiral park.

5 out of 5 stars!

Thanks Velvet :) There are some other really creative setups on here as well. I just happen to be a fan of making things look like nature hahah.

Beast - Where did you get that wood? I'm interested in putting something of the sort in there, and it looks like you have a cave built out of it. I like how it looks...

I hand-picked the pieces from a couple pet stores down in San Diego (CA), however, you can purchase the same type of driftwood "blind" online at Pet Solutions. No matter what type you get, you'll be able to figure out some sort of cool structure/tunnel system :)

Swahala Driftwood (sometimes referred to as "African Root")
http://www.petsolutions.com/Swahala+Driftwood-I-93612160-I-.aspx

Buying direct in a pet store will run you $4.99-$.599 PER POUND, so it can get pricey as a lot of the wood is very dense and not light and hollow like standard reptile grape vines. Just to give you an idea, the two pieces on the right hand side of my tank cost me $19.52 (weighed in around 3.8 lbs at 4.99 per pound).

It actually is cheaper to purchase it online see as how they give you a range of sizes and it doesn't matter about the weight :) The only downside is that you can't sit on the floor at the store and play around with the various pieces until you find a combination you like.

Hope that helps!

I bought some sand! It cost $9.00 a bag, but it was worth it... I am going to clean today, add some new plants and my new air stone... I will probably post some pics tonight or tomorrow.... :)

hoooney - i'll love to see the pics. Also let me know if you add the sand with or without water in the tank and how it goes. I added some fake plants for "hiding" and resting spots today, but still the bottom is lacking... It might just need more rocks, but i'm not sure.

How many bags? for how many gal?

What happened Jessica? Try to unplug your filter for a few, let it settle with no current at all...

Are you doing ok jessica? Are those medical issues with you or your tutles? Hope all is well!

So the sand didn't work and it clogged up your filter? Maybe the filter has a warranty on it?
