Very funky basking area! Nice and creative! May I ask what the loop on the far side is for?

thanks all
@blackforces get you & @rsour24: yes, that's a feeding ring for the turtles, to make them swim a bit to get their foods from the underwater resting place at the other end.
total damage done is less than USD5 and 3 hours from the pipe sawing and cutting the mesh to form!

another shot, and this is from my turtle-cam (essentially a 24/7 webcam)
from the first picture in the first post, you can see the webcam on the far top right, which i've moved to the other end of the tank now

as the tank is not that big, i'm using StringRay 5.0, it's good up to 20L of water.
i have 2 other filters that i'm using in other tanks, but these are commonly found in your LFS (local fish store).
the main thing is the filter medium you put in. most good ones will have the filter, a biomass and active carbon.
i'm planning to build my own canister filter next year when they are bigger in size

Hi chteo
just wondering where you bought the StringRay filter, biomass and active carbon ? i saw the lfs sells those "active carbon" in a small beg package, i think you are refering to those, so the way to use is just to put into the filter ?, how biomass looks like ?
thanks for sharing .

i got the StringRay from Pet's Lover Centre, a good filter will usually have the biosmass and active carbon media in it.
yes, you can purchase those active carbon from LFS, there's no issue in that. biomass usually looks like those white ceramic ring type, they're supposed to promote bacteria growth to eat away some stuff in the water.
you can get all of those from your LFS and use it with your existing filter (if you have one now), main things is that the water input must first go through the sponge filter first, follow by the biomass and lastly the carbon.
