The water is actually clear. It's the light over the basking area reflecting on the tank that makes it look cloudy.

Bill with his new "friend" Georgia. He won't let me any closer than a foot away from him while he basks, and I have no intent of eating him. She is in full stalking mode and he is totally oblivious.

Haha my turtles are the same. My dog can jump against the aquarium glass while they bask peacefully but if Im 5 feet away and even look in their direction they jump off the basking dock in panic mode.

They will eventually get used to you walking around as long as you are about an arms length away and don't make any sudden movements. Avoid eye contact too. If they do get off their basking areas to beg for food, just ignore them. After awhile they will do it less frequently.
