Here is updated pics of Boba's tank with the sand pan in place to provide a shallow area. He spends most his time buried in the sand here and will extend his long neck to stick his nose above the water surface to breath. The other pics are a sequence of shots I took while he was coming out of the sand.....

Very creative! I've always wanted a softshell, but am too afraid to purchase in case I get a female. I can't house an 18" turtle!

I hear that Boba has the traits of a male but that doesn't guarantee anything. Thanks btw

Thanks Steve, I would love a very nice camera so I could capture shots of Toku and Boba. My camera isn't quite good enough for breath taking shots. But for now it does the job to show them off. Boba is an amazing turtle, he lives in my living room and with his tank and the cichlid tank my living room is like an aquarium, lol. Boba is very intuitive and will come out of the sand when I walk up to the tank, or when he goes to bask first thing in the morning when his lights come on. I like when he sifts thru the sand looking for food. I just love Toku and Boba's personalities;)

I'd say not to get too close to the subject. That way the camera can focus easier. You'll just have to crop the picture later.
