Kansasslider wrote:Good point. I guess hording was not the proper term. It just seams to me like you can't have enough turtles. Yes I do have 4 turtles and they are a lot of work. It takes a lot of time to properly care for a lot of turtles. I'm only supposed to have 3 but the breeder I bought one from thought it was cool to send me 2. They all have individual needs a lot like children and take up a good amount of time every day. I just hope you know what your getting yourself into.

If I didn't know what I was getting into, I wouldn't have got them. They are my pride and joy. They all have individual needs. Last night I spent 30 minutes trying to feed Nemo in a seperate container.

Updated my animal room, got the 36 gallon tropical fish tank off the ground, re arranged the turtle tank, cleaned, and fixed all the wiring. :)

Hamster, fish, and turtle wall/corner all clean with some of the kitten's toys on the floor.

Hamster wall done. Top to bottom: Andie(Russian dwarf), Larry(Roborovski), Lilly(Rorovski). Bonus of kitten George stalking the hamsters!

My corner. Vanity, day bed, laptop, the left bins are filled with animal supplies. :D

Kitty's corner. Complete with a front row view of the lake we own. :). Box on the right has hamster supplies and an air freshener.

Here's some miscellaneous photos taken of the babies while cleaning. I saw some interesting things! :msgreen:

This is the first time I have seen these two get along together. Nemo usually runs away. Brother/sister-sister/brother bonding time!

Thank you! Everyone is so fun to watch. I think it makes the turtles and hamsters more sociable when they are in the same room as me. :)

These three have been indoors.
Nemo has been indoors since I got him.
The next smallest has been in since we got it.
The third was the only one left in the pond, and joined the other two Friday night.

I gave up on it. We're planning a pond for the spring time that will be a decoration pond, I'm trying to convince the parents to let it be a turtle pond, maybe.

And as for naming, My mom likes Pockets and Nibs. Off of the movie Hook.

But I am definitely open for suggestions.
I love names from Disney movies, or old classic animated movies
:)

I was able to finally measure all turtles when I cleaned the tank this evening.
Nims/Pockets: 3 1/2inches in Width; 3 1/2 inches in Length
Pockets/Nims: 2 1/2 inches in Width; 1.8 inches in Length
Nemo: 1 1/2 inches in Width; 1 1/2 inches in Length.

I'm worried about the middle turtle. He has holes where his scutes should be in some places in his shell. Some places it looks like 'skin'(?) is kind of flapping around, like I can move it with my fingers. Underneath the 'skin' it looks like fresh shell. The holes with no scutes is darkish in color, like the rest of his shell is.
Is he just shedding or is it shell rot or something like that?

So live plants do not work with Pockets/Nims
He ate every single last bit of them!
Lol!

Sounds like shedding, maybe do a gentle scrub and see how loose they are.
