Good day,
I am currently having trouble keeping my 75 tank clean. I have a turtle about the size of a melon with 5 feeding fish that has out grown my turtle because she decided not to eat them. Now the bottom of my tank if always too dirty. I was looking into building a undergravel filter or undergravel jet system. I have been reading about this and people have good and bad reviews about thi. Not really sure what to do. I have rocks on my tank and my filter right now is a canister. What do you guys think I should do??

Undergravel filters are usually not suitable for turtles. Canisters are preferred, what brand/model do you have? For a 75 gallon tank, you're looking for a filter that would handle 225 gallon aquariums.

My canister is Penn Plax Cascade Canister Filter 1000.

so a undergravel jet system would not be a good option.

You would probably need a filter twice the power of the 1000. As mentioned in your other post, gravel is not a good substrate for RES and is probably hurting your water quality. What do you feed him?

I don't really have gravel. I have river rocks. change between pallets and vegetables and I feed her every other day.

River rock is great, just make sure the pieces are larger than his head.
