Believe me, some go their whole lives without it...relatively short lives probably because of that.

Like world peace said... They can actually go quite a long tome without basking. It is very bad for their shell, and overall health.

If you just got a new basking dock or something, don't worry, because it can take a few days for them to get used to it.
