Chewy's Exile

Chewy isn't a very friendly turtle, even to other turtles. He's seven inches, so he's not really able to stay in my 30 gallon tank, and my 55 gallon is taken up by the Three Musketurts and Captain Pleco.

Chewy wants to bite everything. I can't handle him, and right now I've got him in my old cat carrier as I clean his exile tank (30gal). I can't put him back with the others but I'm at a loss as to any other option.

I will feel bad having to give him away, so I'm open to ideas. I don't really have room or the setup for another large tank inside, and it's too cold outside to put one in the garage (as much as I've wanted another ### gallon stock tank in there... no extra filter, not quite enough room, no extra heater).

Thoughts?

If he's happy in the 30 gallon, then I would just leave him there until it's warmer and things are sorted out. My RES is just like Chewy... bites the heck out of everything. He's chipped his beak before and is constantly biting his nails at night.

He's been moved out of exile and back into Turtle Island (in the garage). He seems to have mellowed out some. Or he's just not letting me catch him being a jerkface.
But everyone seems to be doing ok out there for now, and nobody has any new injuries or bite marks.

It'll likely happen again. The first time I separated my male RES, he was on good behavior for about a week. After that, well, he's got his own place now.

Aw dang it. I know you're right but I'm in denial.

Well, we are moving forward with the new outdoor pond for summer so hopefully he will behave until then.
