Just purchased 2 diamondback terrapins from Dave this morning. We should be getting these next Saturday morning. Thanks for everyone's help!

Well we got our DBT's today, and Dave threw in a third turtle unexpectedly. 1 of the turtles is very active and seems healthy, whereas the other 2 seem very lethargic and unhealthy. I'm concerned these 2 aren't going to make it. They seem very weak and at times they are making a popping sound with their mouth when they open it. Sometimes they just drift in the water and go wherever the current takes them. I tried feeding them but they wouldn't eat. They did try taking a bite at the food, but they weren't able to get it and they gave up.

I thought one of mine was not going to make it either but the next day I got it to eat zoo med hatchling formula food. I assume its cold there and they were in a package with no heat pack? I hope they will be OK.

Just an update on my turtles. Wow! Are they active. Started to tear up a silk plant I suspect Lucky because he/she will bite everything including me! I make them eat on the basking platform but they don't bask yet. They will eat everything under the sun except vegetables. They are doing wonderful. I think this winter I will build them a nice preformed pond inside. I'm probably over feeding but its hard to say no. On top of that my girlfriend is sneaking them treats.

This is Lucky.

Very nice. I love the fact that the skin patterns are completely different.

Have a serious question about a dbt I've had him for over a month now and I had him in a 10 gallon tank with my other baby turtle . Well I moved them to my 55 and I think something made him sick . Possibly ammonia from my fish I'm not sure but I don't have money to take him to the vet . Here's the deal waters at about 80 I have UVB and heat on them about 12 hours a day . And lately I noticed he's been sleeping a lot . He eats wardley turtle sticks . I am about to change what they eat but he's just been sleeping a lot . But my Mississippi Map (same size) is perfectly healthy . Also I noticed his skin maybe shedding ? I'm not sure it looks brownish but it's all over him and it looks like he might be shedding but of course I'm not sure so I'm here asking questions ! I'll attach a pic so you can see what I mean !

If it's just thin layers of skin I would not worry about it so much now. You said he's eating, but how much? Does he have an appetite?

Yea I have him eating wardley pellets but I don't think they like them but they eat . I mean he goes after the food and I see him eat . He just sleeps a lot and it looks like by his face his skins cracking by his mouth cause he stays out of the water soo much :/
