Associate Professor of Biology Scott Boback frequently brings his biology classes to Wildwood Park for research on the painted turtle, a common species in this Harrisburg, Pa., park. Among the 400 painted turtles in this canal, something caught Boback's eye. It was a red-eared slider, an invasive turtle in Pennsylvania.

According to Boback, they have discovered more than 20 red-eared sliders in Wildwood Park. The species is native to the southern United States. Boback says they are common pets, but when families grow tired of them, many have released these turtles into the wild.

Hat tip to Joe for the video. Thanks!
