Hi,
I have been throwing the idea of making a Paludarium around lately. I was wondering if the RES will murder lets say a gecko or a tree frog etc. Anyone here has experience with housing other Reptiles with your turtles?

uh... well, i had goldfish share with mine. he got big and began having a taste for blood. not much of a good idea if it were me. i wont recommend to try but if body parts go missing, id be a bit concerned. so dont risk it. unless there's gonna be a separation in the tank.

A turtle will do terrible things to a gecko and frogs if they catch them.

A paludarium will probably be too small. RES are aggressive and will dominate what ever is in there... so no, I would not put a turtle in there :(

It's kind of curious tho, I have never seen my turtle hunt outside of the water, move around outside of water much for that matter. An Anole Lizard will probably never go into the water. Maybe I can create a center piece that will divide 1/4 of the 120G tank without cutting down on water volume, just trying to plan and consolidate my tanks for the new place. Downgrading in size is really a problem.

NYC is too damn expensive now ....

My friend made the mistake of putting an aquatic frog in with her RES and within 10minutes the turtle ate him starting from the but-end. It was incredible sad and gruesome. And she had made sure there were places for the frog to hide, her turtle just wouldn’t give up once he noticed the frog. I would not put anything in the tank that you don't want becoming a meal.

Aquatic frogs are those that spend most time in the water right? I'm just wondering if Red ear slider hunt on land. Tried googling it but didn't find anything.
I mean it's just the way of life. Turtle eat fish, fish eats shrimp etc.
right now it's still a thought once I can determine how much room I have to work with I might building a paludarium. Whether or not the turtles go in depends on the size. Ideally I hope for 4'x3'x2' but need to move in and have furniture set in first. After all the habitat on living in is most important lol

Not a RES, and not a gecko, but clearly a turtle that only eats in the water and an animal that never goes in the water:

Impressive on how they go after the head or neck.
