Considering A New Turtle?

Hey guys.
So, with Nemo doing good and thriving, I've been thinking about bringing a new reptile into our life's.
I'm not sure what kind of turtle I want, or if I want a tortoise or not.

I'm sorry if this is in the wrong place.
Does anyone have any suggestions or information?
Thank you!

Is this for the same tank or a separate one? Male RES usually need to be separated from others.

It would be a different tank.
My brother moves out in a month, I get his room.
I'm planning on making it a reptile/pet room and I want to get a 125gallon+ pond in that room. Along with the 55, 36, two 10 gallon tanks and my three hamsters.

So really I can do anything, I just don't know what I want to do.

Maybe check a local rescue for available tortoises. Any pet that lives in water requires much more work.

I'll see if we have any shelters, I live in the middle of nowhere.
I've been looking on craiglist too, and this one ad had a box turtle in water.

Some rescues will ship it to you (you have to foot the bill) and you will have to show them the habitat you have set up.

Not to be snarky, but if you think turtles and tortoises are amphibians, you're not ready for another one.

Lol, okay.
Knowledge on what they are has nothing to do with if I am ready for a new one. I've owned multiple animals since I was very young, and have always taken care of them to the best of my ability.
My knowledge about caring for animals goes way above my knowledge of terminology.

Don't make assumptions.
And also, I think that statement was rude to say. I didn't ask if you think I should get one, I asked what specie or where I should start.

I think what they are is very important. If you call a vet saying you have a sick amphibian, they'll tell you sorry and good luck. If you tell someone you have a sick reptile, they may be able to assist you.

Anyways, I suggest waiting a bit before getting another turtle. Babies are such a different experience from adults. Adults require 10X more room, and make much more of a mess.

But if that's not going to stop you...

I suggest a smaller species (muds, musks, maps). Keep in mind there is a high chance that your turtle, and this new one won't get along, and you'll need 2 large tanks when they grow up.

Box turtles also stay quite small.

I have all the room they will need, and more.
Money is not a problem.
And if you call a vet and say "I have a sick (insert specie here) turtle, that's even more specific than saying reptile.
But you're entitled to your own opinion.
I've owned an adult before, too. It's not like I don't know how to take care of my animals.

And I didn't say they will live together, Nemo is getting his own 125 gallon pond when I get the new room, I'll have a 55 gallon left over and plan to get a bigger tank once I find one off of craigslist.

I have a Mississippi map and 2 diomandback terripins. I like all of them and really like the White concentrics white skin with black markings.. Maps tend to be shy and skittish but still cute! Diamondbacks are anything but shy. Im not a big fan of land turtles. But I have seen some nice looking ones.
