Battery Backup

Winter is fast upon us and I have realized that I have no battery backup for my tank. We lose power often in the winter and I need to get something asap. I am wondering what everyone uses - I'm not really sure where to start. Not looking for anything too over the top, just something to keep the water heater and filter going until the power comes back on. Thank you!

Great question. I live in Kansas and so far havent needed it but I was thinking about a small generator. Or just getting a motel room if I loose power?

How long are your power outages? Is your house heating affected?

Sometimes we will lose power for a couple of days. And yes, we lose heat. We have a generator but it gets shut off at night or if we're not here. Definitely need something to keep the water warm during those times! So I'd say something that would last up to 8-10 hours.

A deep cycle marine battery and a power inverter might do the trick. You might need 2 batteries and a battery charger. You could use the generator to charge the batteries. I do not know how long a battery would run a heater though.
