I need some advice. My family is coming this weekend and they are bringing their cat who has never been near a turtle tank let alone any other animals and she's not declawed. Well anyways my tank doesn't have a top on it and we just built one its heavy and awkward for me to put on myself let alone someone who doesn't know where the filter tubes are. I told them to put the cat downstairs if they go out until someone comes home or I can get help putting the tank top on. He told me cats don't go after turtles. Finally here's my question would you put up with this? Would you risk leaving the cat alone with the turtle tank having no top? PS he said he won't help me put the top on

I have a cat and there is no way I would leave him alone with my turtles. Cats are hunters by nature! I wouldn't risk it!

I have several cats and no lid on my turtle tank. The worst thing that I have had happen is one of my cats likes to get in my ATBA and sleep in the basking spot (with or without the light on). When i put the turtle in a tote box one cat gets in and lays with her. If my turtle tries to escape from the box my other cat will flip her onto her back so she can't get out. They have never tried to hurt my turtle, that doesn't mean other cats won't . https://www.dropbox.com/s/0xb8oeijku4a6 ... 3.jpg?dl=0

That's funny and kinda Scarry st the same time. Thanks for sharing. I'm pretty sure left to his own doing my cat would "play" with my turtles till death!

I am very careful to monitor them at all times. The cat that gets in the ATBA won't get in if the turtle is on the basking spot

Shes ok I got home in time the cat is now trying to get the through the top and bat at the turtle. My cousin is convinced the cat won't hurt the turtle, but he said the turtle will more than likely kill the cat......im very confused how could my 4 inch turtle who when she does bite cant even leave a mark kill a full grown cat thats not declawed lol

Haha The one time my turtle got out my cat freaked out and cried like crazy until I came and put him away where he couldn't eat her. Hahaha
