I had to post this because I think it is so funny...or maybe it's a bad thing. I'm not sure yet.. For the last couple of days Izzy just sticks her head out of a hole she dug herself into and waits for me to hand feed her a worm or something. After I give her a few worms..cricket..or whatever, she goes back into her hole. I haven't seen her out and about at all for a few days. Or maybe she goes out when I am not looking (which isn't too often). The lights are on a timer so it is always summer time in the viv. Temp. is the same too. This is something new. She is just a kook!

Awww she is so cute peeking out of the ground! It made me think about how kids bury each other in the sand at the beach. lol

The turtle's probably trying to keep warmer, I may be wrong though.

They generally dig down and bury themselves to keep cool. If the temps are all good, then don't worry. I think sometimes they do it just to be cute :-)

I'd bet tho, that if you didn't hand feed her, she'd come up and look for something on her own.

Terry its interesting that you post that. My Carolina who is usually out and about has also buried herself except for her little head. They dont even come out to eat, which is slightly worrying to me...

cute pic by the way!

Well, today Izzy was waiting in her little hole again with her head up. I am using "tuff love". I didn't feed her, and she didn't come out to eat. Tomorrow I will try to put her dish of food in her viv and see if she comes out. I think this is my fault because when I saw her sticking her head out, I gave her a worm and then another, so maybe now she thinks that I will come with the food. We'll see what happens tomorrow.
Here's Izzy again today:
