Box Turtle and Tortoise Discussion :: Flies in my tank.

I have flies in my box turtle tank. I clean the water daily and the substrate weekly. Any ideas on how to rid the tank of flies. The turtles chase them but are not big enough to catch them.

Flies are strongly attracted to waste and decaying matter. Are you removing his waste, and trashing it properly (like a garbage can with a lid)?

The tank is cleaned regularly.

I had a couple flies ( fruit ) in my first tank, they were attracted to the lights, they all flew away from the lights after 2 days though..

Just like what Steve said, which type of fly is it?
Fish keeper & Turtle know it all... Ish

These are house flies that come in when the door is held open. I may be able to put mesh on the open top so they can't congregate there. But that makes it a little hard to get in to care for them. Fly strips maybe.
