I would just like to thank everyone for their wondeful input on this site. I recently aquired two baby RESs. What was a $20 investment for my mother has already been more than $100 for me. The guy at the shop told my mother that they needed about 1 cm of water and to be fed once a day. If it weren't for this site, Pheobe and Penelope would still be in their little plastic container...if not dead. Thanks again!!!

Currently, they are housed in a 10 gallon tank. They have river rock, a floating area to bask, a heater, and a filter. I also added bubbles for them to play in which they really seem to enjoy. They have both a UVA and UVB lights. If you have any other questions, let me know!

I know what you mean. I was like "cool a turtle only $15! I already have a tank!" low and behold with in two days I had already spent $100 I didn't realize he needed a special lamp, a dock, etc.

I hate that feeling. A 4inch turt around here is around $10-15 so you take it home, and look around... go back to the store and get a $50+ tank, $50 uvb bulb, $50+ on decor, and $20+ on food.

These little girls came in a plastic dish that was about 12 inches long and 6 inches wide. They both did nothing but walk in circles trying to find a way out. My cats actually helped one of them out while we were setting up the new aquarium. The cats are declawed and were being supervised, so don't freak out on me. It was comical to watch.

I'm just waiting, I fear it isn't going to take too long before I have to place them in thee 30 gallon tank. At least when buying supplies I planned ahead. I would recommend that for anyone else who is just starting out. It can save you money in the long run...

Now that the turts are in their new set up, the cats seem to leave them alone. I worried that they would try to sit on top of the tank and that made me nervous because one of the cats is 16 lbs. The tank has a mesh cover on one half and an 18inch basking light on the other half.
