We rescued 2 RES who were not much bigger than 1" from a gal who had them in one 5 gallon tank. We rehomed the male but have had Big Mama for 2+ years. She is now a whopping 6.5" in length! She just recently moved from her 40 gallon to a 75 gallon tank which we hope will hold her for a few years! She has a pet goldfish named Abraham who was supposed to be a snack for her about a year ago but they have made some kind of agreement to live in harmony. Abraham is about 4" and eats constantly! Big Mama eats mostly red and green leaf lettuces and has pellets a couple of times a week. She also loves mealworms, crickets, guppies and just about anything else we put in her tank.
