I am new to RES

A frined of mine gave me 2 RES. They are the cutest things ever. When I got them they were both in a 10 gallon tank and the water was very nasty, brown and smelled horrible. They have since moved into a 30 gallon tank with a double filter/pump system. I have bought them a floating basking rock, plants and a heater. I have creek rocks in there too. I wanted to add a picture but I could not figure out how.

Welcome! I too am new to RES. Just got mine on Saturday. Someone was tired of him and was took him to Petco for them to deal with....I was there doing cat adoptions so I immediately fell in love and decided to take his cute butt home! Learning a TON! Right now he is in a 20 Gallon 'turtle' tank which is highly inadequate. Have learned they are supposed to get 10 gallons per inch with females requiring more space. Sounds like you are on the right track with the basking dock, plants, and heater, and filter. Do you have a thermometer for checking the water/basking temps? But you will probably want to upgrade to a larger tank for the both of them. Welcome!
