Cute turtles, one easy way to make your turtles a little extra happy would be to fill the tank up as high as you can without the possibility of them escaping.

i've been told that cornell, the thing is i dont have a filter yet, so carrying a 10 gallon tank almost full is not easy lol.

Have you tried an "aquarium vacuum" or syphon to empty the water out?

Wow, you've been lugging your 10 gallon aquarium back and forth to the sink for 6 years? There are much easier ways to take care of your turtles. One thing I hope you can do is get a much bigger home for them, like one of those 50 or 60 gallon Rubbermaid tubs. They cost less than $20 and are usually pretty easy to find at any department store. Also, you can make a siphon for cleaning and water changes with any flexible hose available at a hardware store for maybe a couple of dollars.

Actually i had them in a plastic container for that time,(yea i know its very small, but its the best i could have at that time and i didint know much about them as i do now). The tank is relative new, i got it at wal-mart..But im aware its only temporary until they get bigger.

Its the pits when you live with your parents though.They dont quite mix hehe.

I thought of a kiddie pool, but maybe that will work too in the mean time.

Until you can get a bigger tank, you can use a syphon (you can get a syphon for a few dollars or you can make one from a piece of garden hose or a plastic tube) to drain the water from your tank into a bucket so that you don't have to carry the full tank in order to empty it. This would be a huge labor saver and will enable you to fill the tank higher - which will please your turtle no end!

If you're not familiar with how to use a syphon, let us know as almost everyone on this forum uses them to empty their tanks. It's very simple once you get the hang of it.

You know you really don't have to suck on a syphon to get it to work....unless you just want to. Scooping water into it works just as well.

You could....blow into it ya know....no inhaling required.

I use my canister filter to drain my tank. I just stick one end out the window and its drained in 10-15 mins.
