First, she's obviously not your friend. I can't imagine the pain I would inflict on someone who did something so horrible. I'd probably call the police for animal cruelty, personally.

Secondly, get him to a vet as soon as you can. Keep the water extra clean while he's healing. I don't see anything wrong with the treatment you're providing so far, however I'm not a medical professional. The vet can give you whatever you need to keep him from getting any type of infection from this.

Whether or not the claws will grow back depends on if they were actually removed by the root. Good luck. Keep us posted

The nails have been ripped out of the nail bed or more has been take off? If it's the nails, are the nail beds swollen? Are they still bleeding (I'm assuming they bled)? I'm not even going to ask how this happened.

Rather than trying all sorts of things on the paw--jumping from antibiotics to iodine to peroxide---pick one and stick with it. You can clean the wound with diluted (at least 50/50 with water) Betadine or chlorohexidine (you can use a product called Hibiclens, which you should be able to buy at a pharmacy). Let it dry and put some antibiotic ointment on it, like Neosporin. Let it soak in a bit before you put the turtle back in the water. Keep the water super clean.

Without a pic, it's hard to know how bad the injury is...If however, the wound still bleeds, the injury is deep or really major, it would be good to have the turtle seen by a herp vet.

Personally, I'd find another friend.

The turtle is dead????????????????? OMG i'm SO SORRY!! that stinks that your (ex) friend did that. If the person is under-age, I would DEFINITELY tell their parents, cruelty to animals only leads to cruelty to people, either of which is horrid. If they are of-age, you should maybe think of talking to the Sheriff's Department. If nothing else, they can scare the friend into thinking twice next time!

I'm SOO SORRY this happened to your turtle!!!!

Most serial killers started out by torturing animals... You really should notify someone about what happened. I'm not saying your friend is a serial killer but people who do that kind of thing to animals obviously have some mental issues.

Absolutely irresponsible! At least request that she compensate you for the loss by covering your costs of the pet and anything you had to buy for its care after the incident. Also look for a new roommate and/or get a lock for your room.

My six years olds are more careful and considerate So sorry!

Well good. Lately I've heard about a few people having problems with roomates.
