I noticed when I kept my lamps on more than usual when my turt was sick, it actually seem to make things worse. They need rest when they are sick and the light keeps them aware. Turtles may vary, that's just my observation.

My turt has stopped sneezing, but he's still lethargic, maybe the infection is still present? I've used up all the antibiotics my vet gave me. My turt isn't swimming, I haven't seen him submerge, mainly just float. No more lopsided swimming though. He's also eating (reptimin) everyday. What else should I do to help him?

I found him floating belly up today when I got hOme from work, scared the heck out of me. Picked him up, and placed him in the basking spot.. He seems fine though.. Even ate his share of pellets today. I know they should be able to flip back in water and my water is deep enough... Is it because he's still sick and floaty that he isn't able to flip back?

Were you supposed to have a follow up visit? Many antibiotics suppress appetite, I would concentrate on getting him to eat... try live prey, treats, etc.

It sounds like he's still very weak. If he can't swim properly, any amount of water can drown him. You might need to keep him in a dry area for now. When was the last time he ate?

The vet I went to didn't mention about any follow up, just gave me like 2 weeks worth of antibiotics. My turt is eating everyday about 1.5 of adult reptimin.

Dry dock? What's the best way to do this? Do I leave a tray of water for him to drink?

I wouldn't leave any water. Just a warm, dry, quiet area for the turtle. You can put him back into the water several times a day under supervision (to eat and rehydrate). Is the 1.5 all you're feeding him or just what he'll take?

That's all he'll eat. It is the adult size reptimin.

Try some different foods, or maybe a more colorful pellet.

Would it be fine to leave the turt dry of water for about 9hours straight? Besides taking care of him I need to be at work too :P

This is during the day or at night? Would you or someone be able to let him soak every couple of hours?

Unfortunately that won't be an option. How long of a period should I do this, would like a weekend work? That way I can stay home and monitor/ soak him every other hour

Yup! I went to d vet and today but left disappointed because the vet was out attending to an emergency case. Sigh... And they didn't even alert me at all or have the courtesy to reschedule. I was asked to come back again on Friday. It's just tough luck that in my area, there's hardly any vet that specializes in exotic / reptile care. Scar seems to be better a lil bit but he's still not like his usual self. Spends more time sleeping and resting and not consuming any food (in front of me). Though from time to time he'll swim around. I'm awfully worried. Any home remedy solution anyone?

Reen, I think we're almost on the same boat. Does ur turt float or submerge when swimming?

Scar seems to be feeling lethargic still... but I noticed it is alert at certain points of the day. It tends to swim tilted sideways.... or just float around or hang onto the basking area.

FYI, I went to see the reptile vet last Friday and he gave me a little bottle of eye drops for me to use on Scar. Just a drop on its nose and hold it for 20 secs, then release it. 3x a day. Still, d vet told me that it's a 50-50 chance coz Scar is still a baby. huhu... :|
