RES - Red Spots Help!

I noticed today that both my RES turtles have these red blotch/spot on their undershell and I'm worried this could be something serious. The spots seem to be of similar consistency and hardness as the shell itself. I did not push or scrape too hard as I don't know what is the appropriate hardness of the shell. The turtles don't appear to be sensitive to contact of the region, and there is no foul smell or pusy discharge

Asides from the red spots, they are swimming around fine and dandy as normal.

I have attached two pictures of the spots below

please guide me on my next course of actions

Thanks all!

It does look pretty serious. It could be a possible case of shell rot, though I would be very concerned about how this happened.

Some treatment options (though I also recommend going to a good herp vet): http://www.austinsturtlepage.com/Care/medshell.htm

I took them out of the tank, washed it all, cleaned the filter completely and let them dry dock for approximately 10 hours

and I looked at them again and it appears the red spots are now dark red, and some of it has flaked off. I think it looks a lot better now

I'm not sure what this is because it appeared to be an exceedingly quick turn of events?

It does look better, but it does need time to heal. Air drying helps the shell heal faster, but I would not rush or abruptly end treatment. Make sure they can dry dock and a dry, clean and quiet area.
