Is there any other unusual activity/symptoms? Ninja used to be very active. She used to have a companion, Ah Huat but Ah Huat passed away due to respiratory infection.. Seeing Ninja yawning, I brought her to the vet that saw Ah Huat, just in case she got cross-infected. The vet did a check and said it is not so easy to get infected.. So now I'm monitoring Ninja closely.. She yawn, sleeps whole day and seems to be short of breathes but her appetide is still damn good seriously.. She is especially hungry during feeding time.. Like she will stretch all out to reach for food..

Her eyes seem puffy when she just wakes up and puffy eyes gone after a while. Not sure if these are signs over of overweght. Pls advose,

Leafy greens give them vitamin A for those puffy eyes. And if your tank is glass, its not good to keep it by a window- something about the sun magnifying through the glass, i read it somewhere. You need more water than half a inch! turtles love to swim, however if your turtle is sick, you may need to keep it in shallow water.

Bump up the water temps, but you should have a heater to maintain consistent temps. he basking area does need to be about 10F warmer so he can bask and thermoregulate. What do you mean by "breathless"?

Opening her mouth, with her head stretched out, gasping for air..

Hate to say this but she reminds me of the other turtle which has pass away 2 weeks back.. Died due to respiratory infection..
The greatest comfort is she is still eating..

Eating is a good sign, but try to make it a little bit warmer for her.

Hi All,

I brought Ninja to a vet, Ninja was given a vitamin injection and 7days antibiotics..
Vitamin and an antibiotics was given by the vet and I have to inject him 6more..
First 2 injections were successful and Ninja looks better on the 2 days but 3 more days antibiotics have been wasted as he struggle a lot and do lotsa patterns to make injection really difficult.. Now I have one last antibiotics.. *Sweat*

Also these few days I have been seeing Ninja coughing mucus out from his mouth.. Is that good or bad ? Is he on the road to recovery or has the RI been worse than before?

Mucus is not a good sign, was he basking for a long time?

"Long"... the definition will vary when discussing about this, but I would think at least a couple of hours. Good luck.

Yes Steve, Ninja spent a couple of hours basking... Before going into the water for a walk round the tank before going up again!

Hi all, thanks for the valuable advices... Ninja has recovered from RI... The many days of injections, vet visits etc..Finally paid off just to share the vet's advices,
1) Inject antibiotic daily for 7days
2) inject vitamin once every 4days for 5times
3) soak warm water 2x 10-15mins each.
4) UVB / sunlight for 12hrs
5) Sun the slider 10-15mins daily
6) keep the water VERY VERY clean (min change water twice, morning n night, max abt 10 times, each time u see the water dirty with mucus or poop)
7) check out your slider very often

Hope the other sliders can recover based on this tips

Oh yes one more eat leafy vege, your slider may not eat leafy vege but u can squeeZe leafy vege to have vege juice then feed in vege juice
