Baby RES Shell Rot or Fungal, Help!

Hello, Ive browsed this forum for awhile now but ive never made an account till now, because i have an emergency. I just got a couple red ear sliders off of a local turtle breeder. These are my first turtles but Ive had tons of other exotic reptiles and fish over the last 25 years.

My problem is i didn't notice until i got them home because i bought them at night, but one of my baby red ear sliders has what i believe to be shell rot or a fungal infection. I really need help on this one because im no turtle expert. I figured the best way to describe the problem would be pictures. They are about 2-3 months old and ive only had them about 4 days now. They eat, are all very active and properly bask under uva-uvb lights, water is clean and treated, water temp is 76 F.

It seems like white patches on the edges of the shell, i tried to gently rub it off with my finger but it did not come off. So what is it and how do i treat it.

Any help or input would be greatly appreciated

thanks
-Brandon

also, it could be just some mineral deposits. get a new toothbrush with soft bristles and try scrubbing the area very gently with warm water. if it comes off, it's just mineral deposits. if it doesn't, then it may be a fungal infection. is there any signs of pitting/soft areas on the shell?

you can check this thread to compare the pictures: http://www.redearslider.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=32796&p=312264&hilit=hibiclens#p312264 if you really want to be sure, take your turt to the vet. i think the silver sulfadiazine cream (if it's really fungus) needs to be prescribed in some areas, though it may be bought online. good luck.

It's likely fungus and I would go the silver sulfadiazine cream route too.
