How can I get my turtle to extend her back legs ?

It turns out that Hector has a skin lesion on her left leg in front of her knee. She is very protective of this and refuses to co-operate in any way for treatment. I want to at least put some neosporin on her but I can't get her to extend her leg. WHAT CAN I DO? I need a reply as soon as I can get one. I don't want to see her get worse. By the way Hector is about 5-6 inches in length now that I've had a chance to really measure her. She was miss treated by her original owner and was kept in a kitchen sink for who knows how long. She never had any room to swim or bask or had UVB light until we got her. She is very skidish and distrusts everyone.

My way of doing it is you gotta be fast. You put her in the tank and let her swim. While swimming you gotta be fast to get your fingers in the gap so she cant put her leg in. Sometimes even holding in the water she will try and swim away and then you get your finger there to block. Then take her out and apply whats needed. Always works for me.

I would let my turtle roam around in my room until she stopped and had her leg extended. I then would feel for eggs, but you might have enough time to do what you need to do.

Thanks for the information. I will give it a try. The last thing I would ever want to do is hurt her. Or get bitten by her, she's a fast little turtle and has got a pretty good reach.
