Hi! New to the group. I just took in a red eared slider. His shell is less than ideal, but I’m not sure what went wrong. His shell is dark and very ridged, sort of wavy. He is about a year and a half old. According to his owners he’s always had heat/uvb lighting and was fed pellets. His tanks water was crystal clear but did have a pretty significant amount of algae (the fuzzy kind) Maybe he was kept on the baby pellets for too long? He is so active, loves basking, and has a healthy appetite. Any theories what went wrong here? I’ll attach photos. I will take him to a vet as soon as I am able, but because of covid I can’t seem to find one that will see him right now. Thanks!

This mostly from an improper diet and overfeeding. Use a good pellet as a staple, but start offering more veggies in a varied diet.
