ok my turts havent been basking at all for the past week and I couldnt figure it out... but my thermometer said the water was 75 so i went with that...when i stuck my finger in the water it felt warm so I went out today and actuall bought a really cool thermometer that tells the water PH and temp at the same time its all digital and it was around 30 bucks.....when I put it in the water......it said the water was around 84 which was prolly right because the water felt warm...I turned the heater off so the water could cool down to about 76 then adjust it from there.....Is this why the turts havent been basking????

That could be a good reason why. If there's not a significant temperature difference between the basking and water temps, there's no reason for them to haul themselves out of the water to bask. Have you checked your basking temp?

that would be it. Should be about 10 degrees difference, with the water temp down they should be basking again in no time :)

Provide some privacy, maybe cover the sides and make sure there is little activity in the room.
