Hey guys.

I was wondering... how much do typical veterinary bills run up, in your experience?

Thanks.

My emergency room visit came to about 125, for the exam and meds. My visits since then have been 55 for exam and meds with a regular reptile vet, and the last time, when I had just an exam, it was 32. If I had done an xray at the emergency vet it would have added another 125. The best thing you can do is make some phone calls, most places will gladly give you an estimate, and you'll want to ask about the vet's experience with turtles before making an appointment as well.l

When Turtle was sick, the first vet visit was $124 and that included an initial exam, baytril oral antibiotics (enough for 14 days) and 2 vitamin suppliments. Her second appointment was $52 - just an exam and refill on the antibiotics (again, enough for 14 days).

It depends on the vet. Here are some of the costs I have run into in the past:

Emergency visit w/2 x-rays & shot of baytril ("The works"): $234
Fecal analysis: $22
General check-up: $24-$40, depending on where you go

All of the above vets took Visa & MC, and one had a payment plan.

When Siobhan died, the emergency vet even sent me a sympathy card where all the employees signed it! :)

i've only taken mine to the vet once, and it cost me $69, $35 base and the rest for the treatment.

if you want to know how much your vet's going to run you, you can always give them a call :)
