My turtle is 6 months old, Hes getting a rasied spine. Is this normal for a turtle? or should i go get it checked out?

How raised? Can you post a picture the spine area when the shell is dry?

My RES is 5 years old and his spine is slightly raised.



Pyramiding is when the individual scutes become raised, and doesn't only happen along the spine.

Naw, i think its just the flash. and why does everyone say that. I think its because his pellets are green. But i like him because he has a really cool shade of green. Wow this is the most i've ever used the word green

Im also worried about the black lines. I mean it looks like dirt but i dont want to scratch him

A pastel RES is a color morph. There are a number of forms but in general they are quite pale compared to a typical RES. Here's a photo:

Can't see the photo, I don't kno if its a pastel. The other res who lives in theother room is black or brown. So I'm not sure. My bro is jealous that my turtle is green =D. Anyways i'm gonna look into pastel res's and i'll report back

If you think your turtle is dirty, you can wash him! Be very gentle when you do it and be very careful not to drop him as they are quite wiggly and strong.

Holding your turtle over the sink (and close to the bottom of the sink in case he gets loose so he won't have far to fall) you can run some cool, not cold, water over him and gently scrub with a soft toothbrush. Don't apply too much pressure.

Are the lines between his scutes slimy or smelly? Would you say they are black or dark grey?

Their black, i think its just the algae i couldnt clean off from him, If i go over it with my finger nail i can get some off from it

Ok. The seams on a turtle's shell are particularly sensitive, so be careful with them.

I dunno, when i looked at the first pic full sized it looked to me like there was some slight pyramiding. Nothing major though. What do you feed your turtle?

mmm just some nutrafin pellets, lettuce, occasional grap, carrots. Been experimenting, I kno hes overfed and im starting to cut down.

and what do i do about pyramiding?
