So I got the master test kit and this is what I'm seeing here

High Range PH: 8.2
Ammonia: 0.25 ppm
Nitrite:5.0 ppm
Nitrate:5.0 ppm

How do those levels look? I've had my Cascade 1000 for about a month now and about to change the the filters but leave the bio rings in.

The nitrite is very high, what kind of bio media is in your tank?

Using the ceramic bio rings in the bag with the cascade 1000 I just changed the whole media floss and bio pad but still using the rings. I don't have two packs of bio rings as shown here.

As for the tank I had no rocks in the tank but I added flourite now with large egg rocks

Any reason you added flourite? What do you mean by egg rocks?

Added it because for one I already had it and I have live plants.
Egg rocks look almost like river rocks but larger

Possible that the flourite caused a temporary spike. I would check again in a couple of days.

Still no change the only thing that changed a little was the PH level went down a bit.

Did you do anything different over that time? Partial water change?

High Range PH: 7.4

Water changes should drop it. Have you tested your water right out of the tap?
