Habitat - Indoor :: Schmo's homebuilt tank fence

Turtle tank setups and other indoor configurations.

I wanted to add more water to Schmo's tank but I was pretty sure he could escape by climbing out from atop the basking dock. So I built this simple frame from 1x6 and set it atop the tank...

But now Schmo couldn't look out across the room while basking...

So I cut out a piece on the opposite side from the dock and now Schmo can survey his kingdom in safety.

It's the only one I've used so I can't compare it to anything.

I feed Schmo in another container yet daily I have to use a net to scoop out poop and other gunk. So it doesn't seem too powerful. It does filter out some stuff because I rinse the charcoal packet weekly and by then the white packet is very discolored.

I'm going to try and get a more powerful type at some point.

Nice frame. I detect some woodworking skills here......you should stain it to match the table the tank is on, and maybe seal it with some poly......

that looks nice.. is there any way you can build an out of tank basking area? That would save you space in your tank and give you more swimming room :)
