I have two (wish I would have found this site earlier, if I had I would only have one right now, but oh well  ) that seem to get along. I am watching for signs of aggression, but so far so good. They will only bask together, its so cute as soon as one is brave enough to bask the other is soon to fellow, and "stacks" right on top of the other. So your saying to knock it down from 12 hours to 8 to 9 hours?

Thanks allot,

If they bask together, then I think that 9-5/6 is a reasonable time. I'm curious on what othe members think about it though. What I'm thinking is attempting to imitate the sun's natural path, which is around 9-5, since my turtles bask seperately I have the light on from 9-7.

RESowner, regarding that Zoo-Med stand, if I extend mine as far as it will go (I'm not sure if I'd keep it that far out), it's more like 36-37 inches.

To me, the length of time you have the lights on is fine.
