Hey I just got a res like almost 1 week ago.....

He hasn't eaten anything and he just chills around the heater....

My water is 76F and basking 92F

At first he was in a temporary container for 2 days and a 5 gallon tank for 3 days so he has only been in this 35 gallon tank for 1 day

he is like a baby res so very small.... Could he still be just getting use to his surroundings?? THe thing is everytime i look a him he is at the heater....and i leave some food in there for him to eat but he never eats it...

HELP!!

Mine did the exact same thing when I first got him, and I was concerned the exact same way you are. But eventually with help from everyone here (and by scanning through the old posts) Koopa is well adjusted to his surrounding and eating well. The key is to be patient, keep offering him the food (a variety of what's in the sticky in the feeding/nutrition forum), make sure his environment is well set up. He'll come around in his own time. They do take time to adjust and feel safe, then they will bask and eat like they should. What's your set up like?

I'll take a pic when i get home from work but its a pretty normal set up...... Heater and filter in one corner...... turtle dock in the other and light shining on turtle dock..... and like one or two rocks at the base of the tank......

Mine hangs on the heater from time to time as well, but I think he's always done it.
