I got mine at either Home Depot or Lowe's. I remember both carried different sizes and thicknesses. You can also find people online, I looked on ebay, that will sell sizes custom to what you want. Both also sell the aquarium silicon in little tubes that you might need, though if you have to use a lot of it, find the kind in a caulking gun, you can find that at pet stores I think.

I cut a hole in the bottom of a cheap plastic tank, and then stuck on a bent bit of plexi glass for the ramp(actually the plastic from the light cover). Then I copied grey goose's idea for grip (silicon and smooth pebbles). I also stick in some fake plants and a rocky background.

Fishy- You had a great idea! I have some old plastic critter keepers... The wheels in my head are a-turnin!

Dale- Very nice! What do you cover the front with? IF I were to guess I'd say the same stuff that's on the back lol.

The tanks have a removable oak and acrylic barrier across the front of them.

Hi.. I'm quite new here.. :D I don't have a big tank like you guys all have.. Is it ok I place my turtles in 3 years kiddie pool? Outside the house at porch. no UVB light but direct morning sunshine.

Only driftwood for their basking areas and I lifted up a bit the pool at the corner such like there has a beach area if they feel bored to bask on the driftwood..

Azfar, your turtles would like to have water that's deeper so that could swim and dive. In the wild they live in lakes and big ponds where the water is very deep.

However, I recall you mentioned in another post that your turtles' pool is on a porch. Is the porch on the ground floor? If it's on a floor higher than ground level then the weight of too much water becomes a consideration. Water is extremely heavy.

Also, you don't want so much water in the pool that the turtles can climb out and escape.

Just curious - how do you change the water in the pool? Is it hard? How often do you have to change it?

Answer for RES08 - How deep is the water? Heee.. is about 2 inch deep..

Answer for Spotsmama -
Yes, the porch is on ground floor outside my house.. :D

I don't put so much water because scared if the turtles will drowning. I had a turtles before which is died cuz of drowning.. maybe because that time the turtle is still baby.

Or is it ok if I add up some more water atleast half of the pool? :?:

Actually I don't feel dat hard to change the water because I love to do dat.. hee.. I like to play with water and get wets together with my turtles.. ehee.. :D
Yet the kiddie pool not too big and all the accesories I put in the pool not dat complicated to move in and out.. so its quite easy laa..

I change their water once in 5 days but depends on the water quality.. if theres too much dirt or collection of their leftover foods then I'll change it once in 3 days. 8)

WOW!! I love the idea of the kiddie pool- after all Shilo is like another "kid" around here :) I would be concerned about preditors? We have a lot of hawks here- do you have any kind of screen or cover?

Nope, I don't put any kind of screen or cover for the pool coz the roof is enough i think.. heee..

The only preditors for them I think the small small tiny snails, where the snails will climb up the pool at night.. but my turtles don't bother at all.. hehe..

Here some more pictures when their basking time in the pool on the driftwood..

Love to see them basking.. so relaxing... aaaahhhhh... :P
