Lighting for my Two turtles!!! HELP!!!

Hi! I have a question about my lighting that I am currently using in my turtle tank. I use a uvb/uva combination light that is in a fixture hood that sets on top of the tank(its a long floresent-looking bulb) and I also use a plain flood light for their basking and heat source that is clamped on to the side of the tank. I was using a UVA bulb for their basking that was made by Sun Glo but they kept busting and blowing out. I am wondering if a regular flood light is ok for them. It generates just as much heat. Thanks and please help!!

Yes... there is no real need to buy a special UVA light. The only requirement is that it produces heat. Just carefully monitor the basking temps and you should be OK.

Make sure the tube fixture doesn't have anything (glass, plastic, etc.) over it--you don't want anything between the light and your turtle. :)
