I think I've seen a pic of that plant hook somewhere but I'm not sure.

Did the glass shatter in a million pieces or just in a whole piece ?

So the fixture did not fall into tank just the bulb glass came off the base ?

3hrs sounds like a defected bulb ! If you have a water heater so your turtle can warm up it should be ok for a few days until you get another. If no water heater you can use a regular incandescent bulb until you get a better bulb. Just make sure your turtle can't splash on it causing it to pop.

Just a note : Electricity and water be safe , always have fixtures plugged into a "GFI" !

If you don't know if you need a heat bulb or not, check your water temp and basking area temp without it. If the requirements are off you will need to buy another heat bulb. It's weird because I've always heard that Zoo Med does pretty good stuff. Maybe you were unlucky. I personally don't recommend Exo Terra either. I heard a lot of bad stories about their heat bulb and had bad experience with it myself. Reptisun is very popular on the other hand, although I never tried their products.
