Hello everbody. I'm new. I'm waiting for tree res. This is 2 boys and 1 girl.
They are approximately 10-15 years. My question is can the have babies or are they to old?

I don't think they ever really get too old. What kind of setup do you have waiting for them?

I should add that I don't think breeding RES is such a good idea. Only because there are so many out there that nobody wants. I decided early on that if I ever ended up with fertile eggs that I would throw them away. If it were any other kind of turtle I'd say go for it.

well i'm just waiting for them. And i havent started planning yet. I have had fish for many years now and i wanted to try something new. What do you recommend for tank setup? Not sure about the breeding. But maybe try it once, just for having the turtles by my self. How is the relation 2 boys 1 girl? Do the boys fight?

Multiple turtles can become aggressive towards each (not sure if it's more common with one gender or another). Any time you have more than one turtle you will have to watch for the signs of aggression and if it gets bad (i.e. biting, cuts, fighting) you will have to be ready to give each turtle their own tank/habitat.

If you haven't already, read through the main site: www.redearslider.com for all the info you will need to setup their tank or environment. The minimum size tank you'll need to start with is 10 gallons per inch of turtle. So if you are talking about already getting full grown turtles (boy's about 7.5-9 inches each; girl about 10-12 inches) That will be roughly be at least 180 gallons to house them together.

I suggest doing all the research you can prior to getting them to ensure you are fully prepared and setup for them. And on a side note: female RES have to have a nesting area that they can access as they need it.

one last question. If i havent a aqvarium of that gallon size. How is it for giving away one when they have lived together for 15 years. Would the other miss it?

I'm not sure about giving one away. But there are other options to an aquarium such as stock tanks or large rubbermaid containers. These are usually much more reasonable than an aquarium.

I must hear with the last owners with food etc. But i have planned to setup up an guppy tank for fish food.
