I have been reading on here for a while but this is my 1st post.

I have 2 RES, about 7 months old, Tiger and Demarco (Named them while watching the Masters on Sunday).

Anyway, I have the floating dock you can buy at Petco and Demarco keeps eating the end of it. I thought it was cute at first but now I am concerned, Why would she be eating the floating dock??? I feed them pellets every evening and shrimp or minnows when there is time.

Any Ideas.

Welcome to the forum :)

There are a few discussion in the forum about this.. what is usually suggested is to make sure they have a piece of cuttlebone in the tank to munch on. Even if it doesn't stop the dock nibbling, they need the calcium provided for good healthy shell growth. Give it a try and see if that helps :)

It is usually attributed to something missing or unbalanced in their diet like Carol said. As well as offering cuttlebone regularly make sure they are getting their veggies daily. :)

Im from Canada and Ive never seen a pet store that sells a floating dock. Is it possible for me to make one? What are they made out of and what do they look like.

I suppose you could make one (suction cups and a safe material that floats). You could also build one using PVC pipes (look in the Photo Gallery for ideas). There's also corkbark, which floats. If you buy a piece that's just slightly bigger than the width of the tank, you could wedge it between the sides to keep it anchored in one place.

Have you searched online? There are a lot of good online stores that sell floating docks like the ones by zoomed. :)
