Ok, it's been over a week now and neither of my turts have been up on the platform i made for them. The new tank is 125 gallons long, water temp 75, basking temp 93, platform is easy to get on, has fake plants, all the lighting it needs. Is over a week typical for them to get used to the new tank and it's surroundings? They used to bask all the time in their old setup. They are acting normal too.

Some turtles are more stubborn than others and don't take to change well at all. Are you absolutely positive they aren't basking? Are you there and watching them 24/7? My guess is they are basking when you aren't around

Maybe the new basking area makes them feel more vulnerable? Has it's position changed, could they feel more exposed than before? Just trying to throw out options here .... As long as they are acting normal in every other way, eating etc, just give them time to adjust..

Can you post a picture of the new setup for us to see? Maybe seeing it someone can shed some light in why they won't bask.
But I think Carol is right, they might be basking on the sly

or just need time to adjust.

maybe the basking area could be too hot. 93 seems a bit high

You might want to lure them up there a few times with some turtle treats so they become more familiar with the area. Are you providing cover for them as well, like a background for the tank and maybe even cover the front if they are skittish?

Stacey, my guys won't bask unless its about 93-95 degrees, I tried to lower the temp and they'd refuse to bask.

The basking temps in both the pond and the tank never go above 90 and there has never been any trouble getting them to bask, but I also have larger turtles. I know that every turtle is different, but just looking at the water temp and the 18 degree difference in the basking area made me wonder.
Was the temps the same in the old set-up? Is the basking area the exact same? (do you have the ZooMed dock?)

Temps are the same as they were in the old tank. I tried the turtle treat thing and they seem to have gone up there but only to get the food and went right back into the water. I'll give it a few days
