Steve, mine sleep when the lights are on. They'll sleep while basking or even at the bottom. Mine take naps throughout the day. This isn't normal? because they've always done it.

the temperature is around 65. Now that the weather is cooler. its just as cold as the house temperature. The light is on and then I turn it off because I see here sleeping.

The water temp is only 65? It really should be in the mid to high 70s depending on the age/size of your turtle. Do you have a water heater, if not, I suggest you get one ASAP. The reason your turtle may be sleeping more is that it's semi hibernating. Colder water temps make them less active and they also won't eat as much.

Carol, mine might take naps when basking, but as soon as the lights are one they are ready to go.
Spedturtle, you need to get a heater ASAP.

Spedturtle, Steve is right, get a heater asap. That temperature is like an inbetween hibernating and active range, not good for one or the other. Also, is your turt eating?

It sounds like your turtle is getting sluggish because the temps are too low. If the room your turtle was in was a constant 75F, then you could most likely get away with just using the UVB and heat lamp during the day (water would be 75F just like the room temp. at night with the lights off). But if where you are in the good old USA is getting cooler now that autumn is here, your turtle needs a submersible water heater to maintain the temp in the colder months.
