To be totally honest, anything you put in there is a potential snack. I've heard horror stories about plecos (even very large ones) suffering horrible deaths at the 'hands' of a turtle. Are you looking for fish to play 'cleanup' or to make the tank look prettier? Either way, don't spend too much because it will eventually be eaten. I find rosy red minnows are pretty good maids. They eat all the junk at the bottom of the tank and they learn to hide from the turtles. Not pretty fish, but they work. The only thing that survives in my tank are guppies. Don't ask me why. I think the turts just get bored of them. They'll only eat them when I put more in and there's a big cloud of fish. There are always a few that manage to last months.

The size of the fish doesn't matter either. The pet store here has a pond with several large sliders and cooters. They range from 6 to 14 inches. There are also koi fish in the pond that are at least 2 feet long, some larger. They seemed to be living happily together as they'd been for years. One day, several of the turtle ganged up and ate one of the koi. All that was left was bones. Not pretty.
