Bored turtles?

I kind of feel sorry for my turtles.. all they have is an underwater rock and a floating cork bark.. I don't know if they're fine with it, but if i were them, I would go crazy, and probably not be very happy. What do you have to keep your turtles happy (or something for them to do?) ? :D:D

I'd put in a few plants (fake are fine), and maybe a place they could hide in/ behind. Other than that they are fine as long as the rest of their habitat is correctly setup(basking area, UVB/UVA lights etc) :)

Koopa loves using his lettuce as a flotation device when he gets fed. He usually eats some, floats some, chases the lettuce leaf in the current of the filter and starts all over. Turtles aren't like dogs or cats that need pet toys. But having a habitat that gives places to rest on and hide in will help keep them happy.

Koopa sounds like a riot! lol

Yeh I agree. I have a log that he climbs into (made for an aquarium, not from outside) and a plastic plant that he plays with and a big rock that he sits on. He mostly like swimming and waving at me while i am on the computer. Which is all the time. Oh i also have an above tank basking area. You can see pics of here if you want.

My turtle I bought him what is called Penn Plax Cliffs and Caves for my turtle. He loves it. He'll play in it constantly. And it has holes all around so that when he heads into the cave he can see out to find out what's going on. So it gives him somthing to do.

But what my turtle loves to do best..and this is also what makes me think he's a little off his rocker..he'll climb on top of his in the water filter and jump off it into the rush of water that is being pushed out. He does backflips and everything. Like I said he's a little off his rocker but oh well he likes it.

Besides the one rock and the corkbark, do you have a filter? If not, a little current to give them something to swim against would be nice. Some keepers have said that a bubble wand helps keep their turtles occupied. Some river rocks for them to push around would also be nice.

BTW, is the corkbark their basking area? If so, and if it's floating around the tank, rather than lletting it float around, it would be better to have it anchored under their UVB light and heat light so they can bask under them.

I got my turts some feeder fish, they love chasing them around and it keeps them busy, I also have some fake plants in there so they can hide away.
