Ok I got Mikey two Anacharis plants, which I had an interesting conversation with the pet store owner (petland magically didn't have any anacharis at all!! Go figure!!! He tried to sell me some oddball plant I've never heard of..anyways) I pronounced Anacharis as Anna Care is and he goes oh I've never heard it said like that. I said well I honestly didn't know the correct way to say it but I figured that must be close. But he said it sounded like the right away to say it since it was a latin name.
But I also got Mikey some fake plants to hide in. They're papery and I'm hoping it's ok and he won't eat them. They're in a kinda fake stump that you sit in the tank. Hopefully he won't confuse them with the real plants. But do you have any suggestions about the fake plants. I just wanted to get him something else to hide in.

I've never bought any anacharis before so I also wouldn't know how to correctly pronounce it. As for fake plants, I usually buy plastic ones. They look real, easy to clean, and extremely hard for your turtle to even try to eat it and it's safe. The first time I placed those plants in my tank, Survivor attempted to take a few snaps at it. Unfortunately for him, it just wasn't chewable. He gave up after a day or so. I buy my plastic plants on eBay. I look for auctions that have a lot of them for sale. Buying them individually online or pet stores especially are really pricey. I won an auction that included about 6 12" plastic plants (green & red) for about $13. I'm sure you can find deals similar to that on eBay.

I have fake plants in my tank and whenever I go out of town I buy some anacharis and put them in the suction cup clip thing and the turts go nuts over them. I don't get them that often though cause they are a complete mess! But try looking in a smaller pet shop. I usually can't find them at the larger chain bet stores but if you come across something like an "aqua zoo" or a "pet supermarket" I've always found them there.

I got both in the tank, Michelangelo won't eat the anacharis but my snails love it and go through it like water (haha!) but Michelangelo loves his fake plants as they provide him a nice sleeping spot and he hasn't bit into those so I'm not worried anymore.

I have mostly plastic plants in three of my tanks, and add anachris (I've heard some people pronounce it as anak kris (stress on the nak) and some people pronounce it as ana char (as in charcoal) is, with the stress on the char.
