sinking cork bark?

i've had my cork bark in my tank for a few months now (4 or 3?) and lately i seem to think that my cork bark is floating a bit lower in the water than it used to be. So i took it out and right now, i'm drying it, will this help the cork bark float higher? is this supposed to happen? or am i just paranoid??

i have the same problem ... my turtle got so heavy and the cork just sinks under water ... and the cork was never the same ... well when the cork is in water for such a long time it starts to deteriorate and it kinda looses its buoancy .. the only thing you could do is purchase fresh new bark .. but for me a planning to build a new basking area so hopefully my turtle can be completely dry

The corkbark eventually becomes saturated with water and will sink. Unfortunately, drying it out, even baking it, won't bring back the water resistancy. You'll need to buy new cork bark. I bought a really good piece and have had it for nearly two years, however, it's slowly sinking as well and will have to be changed in about three months, I figure.
