I'm updating Veronica's set-up. She was given to me in a ten gallon tank with filter and basking light. Tomorrow I'm driving into the nearest big city to update her.

I'm thinking about just a 20 gallon tank since she still is a hatchling and it's what I can afford money-wise right now. I'm going to get her a ZooMed turtle dock so I will be able to raise the water level in the tank a lot higher than it is now.

Right now her basking area is lots of big shells stacked up about half-way so her water level is only 5 gallons and um, yeah...she needs more.

I'm so excited about updating her. She's an active little thing so I know she's just going to love the extra swimming space.

I think I'm going to spoil myself and her and get a tank background because really, they're very pretty.

I've become so attached to Veronica that I think I'm just going to cancel my dorm application for college and try and find an apartment. I just can't part with her. :)

Anyway, I'll post pictures once she's set-up with her new tank.

Awaiting the pics.... :) (Don't be surprised if Veronica becomes a little shy again for a while while she adjusts to new surroundings.)

I just can't wait to see her actually swim...more than a couple of inches at a time.

Right now I think her arm is itching because she keeps snapping at it. I wonder if turtles itch when they shed?

Don't know if they itch, but I would think that the movement of the loose skin in the water against her would make her feel some sensation. When my RES was a hatching and went through a growth spurt, he would try to rip the skin off that was loose around his neck.

I imagine him trying to nip at his own neck would be rather hard.

Not with the loose skin that was floating around his neck in the water.
