So I told everyone about how my old filter blew out by trying to restart itself for a week. So today, I went out and bought a Whisper Power Filter made for 60 gallon tanks (Wow this thing is HUGE). I just set it up and it seems to be working fine.

It's gone a day without a filter because I had to wait until today before I could go get it, and the tank is already a little cloudy, will the filter clean that up or do I have to do a water change?

Also, the noise from the two waterfalls doesn't bother me that much, but is there a way to make it so it won't splash water out of the tank at me?

You will have a bacteria bloom, no doubt, How many gallons is in your tank ?

This model will supposedly do up to 330GPH. So it would be good for around 30 gallons or so depending on the set up.

You can suction plants where the water flows out to break the fall, or fill the tank with more water to prevent a high drop.

well, i have a 20 gallon tank, so it should work fine, but it's been about 2 hours and still kinda cloudy, oh well.

But how do you go about suctioning plants? I have some plants, but they're just kinda floating around lol

Yep, that is great filtration for the size of tank. What I did was buy suction cups with little hooks from the craft store, or you can buy the suction cups made for airline tubing at the pet store and snip the enclosed circle. Then you just attach it wherever you can.

My plants are on plastic chains so I can cut to fit where I want it, place a suction cup at two ends, hook it on the chain, then slide the cup tight.

So, right now I have a 5 inch turtle, how far up can I put the water without risking his escape?

Michelangelo is two inches and I've kept the water level about four inches below. That way when he even stretches he can't get out. So really six inches at the least I would say unless you get hardware cloth to put over the tank.

make sure there is at least a 1-2" lip at the top. I am learning those lil buggers can really stretch! lol
