I have been buying the normal basking tank with the suction cups on the side for about 4 years now- my turle chunk keeps chewing and biting at it and ripping them apart slowly! I need to find a better quailty item to use??? He is about 5-6 inches ! I also need a larger tank but dont really have alot of $$ to spend on one- I have a turtle tank with the side piece and a great interal filter!

thank u!

Pretty typical thye love the rubbery material the docks are made of. I removed mine and now just use plastic eggcrate platform held up by pvc pipe.

I've never had my turtle do this before. Very strange.

Remove the zoomed garbage dock and replace it with a thick piece of corkbark, just keep the suction cup frame. I saw someone do that and I thought it was clever. Other than that, I'm a big promoter of ATBA's as it doesn't sacrifice water level in the tank which u said was a concern. Also, check craigslist for tanks there is always a good deal that comes up

I read somewhere if turtles are biting docks they are looking for calcium. So I throw in a few chunks of cuttle bone and they'll nibble on the cuttlebone and stop. Works for me so go figure!
