The next items on the list after the lighting is a skimmer and a chiller. When all the guppies are gone I want to put in some bluegill and small mouth bass to make a small North American pond setup. To do that, I will need to drop and maintain around 73 degree Fahrenheit water temp. By this time Toku will be around 5 or 6 yrs. old. I'm pretty positive the guppy population will need to be moved to another tank. I don't think they are gonna go extinct in Toku's tank!

I'm home for the winter. It got the pics for Toku's lighting. I looks amazingly brighter and the algae is really starting to look good on the logs. Heres the pics;

This is what the whole setup looks like....

I used anchors in the ceiling and eye bolts to link the chains then used S hooks to hook to the chains to the H5's fixture. As you can see I mounted the fixture behind the MVB lamp....

This shows the brightness of the tank and of course Toku is there for a pic....

Question for you - the heater - what kind is that? I need to get a new one for Sheldon for his new home. I'm just searching the brands. ;)

Actually I need a new heater too! This one broke and was short circuiting inside the housing thank goodness! It is a Aqua brand sold at petsmart. I was hearing a knocking sound like a loud banging from Toku's tank one night last week and I turned on the light in my room to see what Toku was moving and he was sleeping, so I looked and saw the heater was sparking in the housing while making a banging sound. Scared the heck out of me, I quickly unplugged it! Thankfully, Toku and the fish were fine. I'm curious if anyone else has encountered the samething? I also obviously, don't recommend anyone getting one of these heaters. Now I'm on the search for a new heater. I can't really recommend one but would love to heard what everyone else is using. I of course need high watt. heaters. This would benefit you and me, cutepanda;)

I'm using an Aqueon and haven't had any problems. The only reason I need another is because it's not big enough for the increase in water. ;)

Heck, I only talk on it when I add or change something. Veipa's build thread gets more conversation, he has cooler gadgets than I do, haha.

ljapa, has an very interesting thread about lighting and recordings of the powersuns uvb output. I want to start trying different lighting bulbs to see what would give the best readings. I know the powersun seems to be a bit low on the uvb output. I tried to order a Mega-Ray but that was a failure as I never received anything not even a reply by Reptileuv. I think I'm gonna try the T5HO UVB bulbs next. I would also like to try a metal halide soon. I do admit that if Mega-Rays become available I will try one out. We shall see what I do next. But I do know, I'm not done with the lighting situation. At least I got the LUX I was looking for with the T5HO's over the tank.
